Summer might be coming to end, but for those still soaking up sunshine it’s not over yet. But sometimes it can be difficult to find a comfortable spot to lounge in those rays, especially if your breasts keep pushing into your chest every time you lay out.
Maybe this isn’t a problem for you, and I applaud your comfort victory if that’s the case. My boobs seem to make a point of making me uncomfortable when I lay out; as if they’re paying me back for keeping them locked away in boob jail (bras) and away from the sunshine.
Bravissimo must have the same thought. For an April’s Fool joke, they made a pool float with a boob cutout. And while it may have started off as a joke, people started asking where they could get one. So, I chatted with Amy Reddington (Bravissimo) Brand Executive to learn more about this breastastic summer product.
But who – or what – is Bravissimo? Bravissimo is a(nother) lingerie company that focuses on larger cup sizes. Sarah Tremellen started the company in 1995, after she and a friend were continually frustrated by the lack of choices for big cup lingerie. Bravissimo’s mission has always been: inspire big-boobed women to feel amazing, to celebrate their figures, and to give them as much choice as someone who wears a 34B cup bra.
That feeling led them to an idea for an April Fool’s joke this year. A post went up on their social media for a lilo (pool float) with room for your boobs! “We were expecting the post to make our customers laugh,” says Reddington. Adding that they, “weren’t expecting many of them to ask us to actually create the lilo.”
Bravissimo always tries to develop solutions for customers in their products, but they weren’t expecting one of those solutions to be a lilo! “We always try our best to act on our customers’ requests, so the Lilo was no exception,” Reddington shares.
Reddington explains that she thinks the Lilo resonates with women because, “big-boobed women know how difficult it is to lie comfortably on your front, so something as simple as lying on a lilo has a completely different meaning to us.” She says it was great to be able to talk about this publicly and bring big-boobed women together with this experience that we all share. “That’s he beauty of our amazing customers,” she shares. “They always make us think about what else we can do to make big-boobed women feel as good as possible!”
Bringing the Lilo to market has been pretty exciting for everyone at Bravissimo; especially since it all happened so quickly – they had to turn it around for the summer holidays. Reddington adds that they, “also loved learning how to create this brand new product for Bravissimo girls. We’ve been on a totally new learning curve in the world of pool inflatables, and we’ve had so much fun making it come to life.”
You can learn more about the Lilo (and purchase your own), by visiting Bravissimo online: www.bravissimo.com/lilo. And they absolutely love to see pictures of customers on their lilos (especially in their Bravissimo swimwear!). “It keeps inspiring us to do what we do,” says Reddington. She also reminds everyone to send in your pictures and stories of what you’ve been able to do on the Lilo.
